The 38-year-old rider is the leading rider at the northwest Houston racetrack. He has 41 wins so far in the current Thoroughbred meeting.
Larry Taylor won the 1,000th Thoroughbred race of his career Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park. Taylor reached the milestone in the second race, piloting Rare and Sixy ($4.20) to victory for trainer M. Brent Davidson. "This was a good feeling and something I've been wanting for a long time," said Taylor. "I was so glad to win it on a horse trained by the Davidsons. I go way back with Brent and Colleen. I've been riding for them since they trained Quarter Horses in Oklahoma."
