Millionaire Valentine Dancer Retired; Booked to Storm Cat

Valentine Dancer, a millionaire homebred racemare for Al and Saundra Kirkwood, has been retired from racing and is booked to Storm Cat, according to Daily Racing Form.

Six-year-old Valentine Dancer earned $906,966 of her $1,144,126 on grass. The California-bred daughter of In Excess took two runnings of the Sunshine Millions, winning the 2004 John Deere Filly & Mare Turf Stakes and last year's Cloverleaf Farms Filly & Mare Turf Stakes. She also won the mile Harold C. Ramser Sr. Handicap on turf in 1:32.87 at Santa Anita.

Valentine Dancer, who won or placed in 15 stakes, retired with eight wins from 29 races while trained by Craig Lewis. She ran unplaced in one of this year's Sunshine Millions events Jan. 28 in what was her final race. Produced from the Mr. Prospector mare Gilded Dancer, Valentine Dancer hails from the female family of Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Natashka.
