Folklore, the Eclipse Award winner as outstanding 2-year-old filly of 2005, will miss the Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) on March 12, trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Sunday."I'm not going to run her in there," said Lukas, who has conditioned seven 2-year-old filly champions in his Hall of Fame career. "She just hasn't got into her program since the Santa Ynez Stakes (gr. II), so I'm going to skip it. I might run another one in there, but I'm not going to run her."Folklore was third to stablemate Dance Daily in the seven-furlong Santa Ynez Jan. 16, beaten less than a length in her 3-year-old debut. It was her worst finish in eight lifetime starts. She owns a record of 4-3-1 in those efforts and has earned $945,500 for owners Bob and Beverly Lewis.
Folklore is nominated to the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) May 5 and could become the third filly to win both that race and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I)."We've got a long summer," Lukas said. "I've got a lot of ambitious plans for Folklore at Saratoga, and it's still early in the year."
