The online auction, which will raise money for ReRun's adoption program for ex-racehorses, includes last year's Derby winner Giacomo and 2004 and 2003 Derby and Preakness (gr. I) winners Smarty Jones and Funny Cide. A "Three Shoe" Moneigh created by 31 year old Hall of Famer John Henry and signed by his jockey, Chris McCarron, as well as Moneighs by Cigar, Distorted Humor , Sarava, Mineshaft , Cryptoclearance, Menifee, Commendable, Da Hoss, and Speightstown will also be available in the online auction, which concludes April 30.
"We want to honor prior Derby Winners and other great racehorses whose equine artistry helps support less famous ex-racehorses who are not in the public eye after their racing days are over," said Sue Swart, ReRun's executive director. "The auction not only makes Moneighs available to racing fans, but generates enormous support from the public who want to help ex-racehorses find good homes," Swart added.
