Tattersalls Ireland will conduct a new sires showcase sale for the first time on the opening day of its September yearling auction, Sept. 5-7. The New Sires Showcase, scheduled to be held prior to the start of the September sale's premier session, will consist of 40-50 yearlings that are all by stallions with their first crop of yearlings.
Each yearling will be carefully selected based on a combination of pedigree and conformation and the session will run alphabetically by dam's name. Any yearlings by first season sires already nominated to the sale will be evaluated and any consignors wishing to enter further first crop yearlings should do so before the July 2 entry deadline.
"Yearlings by first season sires have traditionally attracted a huge amount of interest from purchasers, and we are keen to harness this interest by showcasing some of the best individuals by exciting young stallions," said Tattersalls Ireland chairman Edmond Mahony. "We are delighted with the initial response to the concept and in particular from studs standing first season stallions who see the 'New Sires Showcase' as an ideal opportunity to promote their young sires."
