Red Bullet Colt Sets Barretts May Preview Mark

Unbridled Slew, a California-bred 2-year-old colt, recorded the fastest eighth of a mile in Barretts May Sale history when he breezed the distance in 9 3/5 seconds Thursday at Fairplex Park.

The colt, by Red Bullet out of Sookloozy, from the consignment of Wavertree Stables Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), agent, equaled the fastest furlong in Barretts history. It was the fastest ever by a colt at a Barretts sale.

The work came during the opening half of Barretts training preview for the 2006 May Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The second half of the training preview is Friday. The auction of 378 head will be held on May 16 in the Hinds Pavilion located on the grounds of Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif., beginning at 10:30 a.m.

A Flying Chevron colt out of Too Much Madam from the consignment of B.C.3. Thoroughbreds, agent for Neversink Stables, recorded the fastest quarter-mile work in May Sale history, stopping the clock in :20 4/5.

The fastest three-eighths mile work, :34 flat, was turned in by Evident, a colt by Grand Slam out of Royal Nominee from the consignment of Cashmark Farm (Cash Asmussen), agent.

Holly Torque Tango impressively previewed Friday at Hollywood Park when she won a Maiden Special Weight race by 5 ½ lengths in :51 2/5. Several other horses in the catalog have already raced and some have won a race.
