Troienne Winner Joint Effort Back in Dogwood

Joint Effort, an impressive winner of the $100,000-added La Troienne (gr. III) on Kentucky Derby Day, and Ready to Please, who won the Fantasy (gr. II) at Oaklawn Park in her stakes debut, head the field in the $150,000-added Dogwood Breeders' Cup (gr. III) at Churchill Downs.

Nine are entered in the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies, one of four added-money events on Saturday's 11-race program.

Donald Dizney's Joint Effort, a Florida-bred daughter of Runaway Groom trained by Dale Romans, does her best running at Churchill Downs. Her 2 ½-length victory over grade I winner Adieu in the La Troienne improved her record under the Twin Spires to 3-3-0 in six races.

Rene Douglas will ride Joint Effort, who will carry 116 pounds and has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite.

James Scatuorchio's Ready to Please rolls into the Dogwood on a three-race winning streak capped by an April 14 win in the Fantasy. The Todd Pletcher-trained daughter of More Than Ready  has a career record of 3-0-1 in five races with earnings of $196,150.

Rafael Bejarano will ride Ready to Please, who will carry 120 pounds and is listed as the 3-1 second choice in the morning line.

Another major contender is Harry J. Aleo's Northern California invader Victorina, who has a 4-2-0 record in six races that includes a win in the Meafara at Hawthorne Race Course.

Others are Bruce Lunsford's Coronado's Vision, runner-up in the Bourbonette Breeders' Cup (gr. III) at Turfway Park; and Humorous Gal, who makes her stakes debut off of two straight victories for trainer Ian Wilkes.
