'Eleven Seeks Return to Form at Hollywood

She's an Eleven, who finished a disappointing fifth as the favorite in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) in mid-May at Pimlico, will try to regain her winning ways when she returns to Hollywood Park in Sunday's $150,000-added Hollywood Breeders' Cup Oaks.

The California-bred daughter of In Excess scored a 9 1/4-length victory while making her last Hollywood Park start in the Melair Stakes April 30. She cruised to victory that day while running the Oaks distance of 1 1/16 miles. She's an Eleven, trained by John Sadler for C R K Stable, will face six other 3-year-old fillies in the Oaks.

Winless but stakes-placed in two starts as a 2-year-old, She's an Eleven broke her maiden in her third start of 2006, then scored the impressive Melair win. She has only missed the money once in seven starts while earning $207,450.

Bettarun Fast, trained by Vladimir Cerin for Patricia and Stephen Fitzpatrick, aims for her third straight stakes victory, but will be running in a two-turn race for the first time. The Florida-bred daughter of Kelly Kip won the 6 1/2-furlong Santa Paula (gr. III) in April and the seven-furlong Railbird (gr. III) at Hollywood in May. Bettarun Fast is five-for-nine overall with earnings of $228,505.

Hystericalady, a winner of three of five starts, is being shipped by trainer and co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer from Northern California for the Oaks.

"She's coming off a real nice win, and I wanted to try her here," Hollendorfer said. "I think she will handle two turns."

Bob Baffert will also be saddling a newcomer to Hollywood Park in Arkansas-bred Downthedustyroad.

"First Arkansas-bred ever," Baffert said of the three-time winner at Oaklawn Park. He noted that she has worked as well as his Belmont Stakes (gr. I) candidate, Bob And John. "We're going to find out if she can route."

Downthedustyroad, bred by Tommy Walls and campaigned by his wife Shirley before being sold to Zayat Stables and moved to Baffert's barn in early May, has run six furlongs in each of her five starts.

Squallacious, a daughter of Summer Squall, enters the Oaks unbeaten in two starts. She broke her maiden here on April 29 and won a seven-furlong allowance race May 31 for owner Richard Trontz and trainer Mike Puype.

Chosen Royalty, owned by E.W. "Bud" Johnson and trainer Bruce Headley, has won two of four starts. She finished third behind She's an Eleven while making her most recent start in the Melair.
