Passaro and his crew sealed the main track after Friday's card, where all of the turf races, with the exception of the Hill Prince Stakes (gr. III), were moved off the turf."We got really lucky that the rain moved im later in the day (Friday) instead of around 3 p.m. as expected," Passaro said. "We got the main track packed down really tight."The weather forecast for Saturday at Belmont Park is calling for highs in the mid-to-upper 60s with winds from the west northwest around 22 miles per hour.
New York Racing Association director of racing surfaces John Passaro is calling for a fast track and yielding turf course for today's Belmont Stakes (gr. I) card."The track should play really good today," Passaro said Saturday morning. "The main track should be decidedly fast in the first few races. The turf will be in really good shape."The track conditions are a marked improvement from what was expected earlier in the week when the area was soaked in rain and the track was sloppy. Racing was moved off the turf course to the main track in order to maintain the turf.
