KEEP Wins National Public Relations Award

The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) and its public relations agency, Preston-Osborne, have been presented a Silver Anvil Award for their work to establish a breeder incentive fund.

The KEEP nomination centered on the premise of Kentucky as the "Horse Capital of the World." In May 2004, owners, breeders, and trainers of all breeds came together to create a statewide association to protect and grow Kentucky's horse industry.

In just 10 months, KEEP's membership grew to more than 5,000. KEEP was also successful in its first attempt in passing pieces of legislation in 2005 to protect the horse industry, including a $15 million breeder incentive fund.

"We're honored to be recognized for our work with KEEP," said Phil Osborne, CEO of Preston-Osborne. "Although this is a public relations award, this project was successful because of the entire team of people working on the project including the KEEP board and staff, our legislative agents, Capital Link Consultants, and our advertising partner, Red7e."

"Although the horse industry has already received its reward with the establishment of the breeder incentive fund in 2005, it is exciting for those who worked so hard on this effort to be recognized on a national level," said Jim Navolio, KEEP's executive director. "Because of the establishment of this fund, Kentucky can continue to protect our 'Horse Capital of the World' title and grow our signature industry."

The Silver Anvil Awards began in 1946. They are awarded to programs in 54 categories. This year, the awards competition drew more than 700 entries from across the country.
