French Import Lady of Venice Heads Regret S.

Lady of Venice, a French import that scored a stylish victory in Keeneland's Appalachian in her U.S. debut, is the 5-2 morning line choice in the $200,000-added Regret (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-old fillies at nine furlongs on the Churchill Downs turf Saturday.
A field of 11 sophomore fillies entered.

Patrick Biancone trains the daughter of Loup Solitaire, who has won three consecutive races in the U.S. and France since she finished second in her racing debut in September at Chantilly. Sensational apprentice Julien Leparoux will ride Martin Schwarz's Lady of Venice from post one.

Her main rival could be L and D Farm's Magnificent Song, a gray daughter of Unbridled's Song who rallied to win the $100,000-added Edgewood on Kentucky Oaks Day at Churchill Downs. The Todd Pletcher-trained filly will be ridden by Garrett Gomez and is the second choice at odds of 3-1.

Other contenders include Fiery Dancer (5-1) and May Night (12-1), the 2-3 finishers in the Edgewood; Red Cherries Spin (6-1), the fifth-place finisher in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I); Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Beau Dare (10-1); Salty Response (10-1); Candy Ma'am (15-1); Nottawasaga (15-1); Precious Kitten (20-1); and Best Mom (20-1).

Precious Kitten, Ken and Sarah Ramsey's homebred daughter of Catienus, is a half-sister to their 2004 Eclipse Award turf champion Kitten's Joy. Her only career win came on the dirt.
