Dr. Decter, a colt by Gold Fever out of Spectacularjenelle, by Spectacular Bid, went to Barclay Tagg for $150,000 to top the second and final session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2006 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. Consigned by agent Jimmy Miranda, the chestnut colt, a half brother to stakes placed Won Jenelle, worked an eighth in :10 1/5 on Sunday, co-fastest at the distance at the Under Tack Show. Bernie's Best Boy, a colt by Bernstein consigned by agent Robert McElroy, was purchased by Bear Stables, Ltd., for $92,000. The bay colt, who worked a quarter in :21 4/5 at the Under Tack Show, is out of Stage Bulletin, by Rare Performer, and is a half brother to stakes winner Basketball Court. For the session, 128 2-year-olds sold for a total of $2,798,300. That compared with 147 horses grossing $2,639,500 at the corresponding session last year. The average price was $21,862, up 21.7% from $17,956 a year ago, while the median price of $15,000 jumped 39.5% from $10,750 in 2005. The buyback rate was 17.9%; it was 25.7% last year. Ten older horses brought a total of $58,300, averaging $5,830. That compared with nine horses grossing $55,900 and averaging $6,211 last year. For the entire sale, 245 horses grossed $5,508,700. That compared with 304 youngsters bringing a total of $5,677,800 at last year's June Sale. The average price was $22,484, up 20.4% from $18,677 in 2005 and just short of the sale record of $23,550 set in 2004. The median price was $15,000, soaring 36.3% from $11,000 a year ago. The buyback rate was 27%; it was 29.1% last year. The sale topper was a gray or roan colt by Smoke Glacken consigned by agent Eisaman Equine, which sold for $220,000 to Joe Brocklebank, agent for Jeff Singer Racing. Out of Lawana Go Fast, by Once Wild, the colt's quarter-mile clocking in :21 2/5 was the fastest at the distance at Saturday's Under Tack session. He is a half brother to stakes placed Dreams Go Bye. The sale's highest priced filly was a bay by Danzig whose three-eighth mile breeze in :33 4/5 was the co-fastest work at the distance at the Under Tack Show. She sold to Carolyn Wilson for $200,000. Consigned by agent Eisaman Equine, she is out of Bubbly on Ice, by Marfa, and is a half sister to graded stakes placed Free Agent On Ice.
