A.P. Warrior Works Toward Swaps Handicap

Edited Hollywood Park release
A. P. Warrior worked five furlongs in 1:01 Monday under jockey David Flores for the $350,000-added Swaps Breeders' Cup Stakes, a grade II test for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles at Hollywood Park on Saturday.

"It was slow in the beginning, and he finished a little at the end," said trainer John Shirreffs of the drill. A. P. Warrior finished a game second, a nose behind Point Determined, in his last start in the Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) here on June 17.

A.P. Warrior is expected to face Point Determined (Victor Espinoza) and Arson Squad (Alex Solis) in a rematch of the 1-2-3 finishers in the Affirmed.

Also nominated are Double Galore, One Union, Potential and Wanna Runner.
