Nicole's Dream Sets Arlington Turf Mark

The 6-year-old mare Nicole's Dream set a five-furlong turf course mark at Arlington Park Sunday when she won the $47,550 J J'sdream Stakes for the third time in four years.

Nicole's Dream, who races in the black and white colors of the Dare To Dream Stable of Michael and Allen Faber, was clocked in :55.90 after leading through fractions of :21.70 and :44.20.

"She's pretty awesome," said jockey E. T. Baird. "She's been great to me. She's getting older but it seems to me she's getting more impressive."

It was shortly after capturing the 2003 J J'sdream, then an overnight handicap, that the daughter of Northern Trend was purchased by her current connections for an undisclosed sum. After finishing second in the 2004 edition of the race, Nicole's Dream returned to take the 2005 and 2006 renewals.

The J J'sdream was the second straight victory over the Arlington turf this season for Nicole's Dream who less than two weeks ago beat male rivals in the $42,000 Smile Stakes. Overall, her record improved to 23 wins from 48 starts and the $28,530 winner's share boosted her lifetime earnings to $657,904.

Bucky's Prayer was second in the seven-horse line-up, three lengths to the clear of La Tache, who finished third.

Nicole's Dream, the odds-on choice, returned $3.80, $2.20 and $2.10. Bucky's Prayer paid $5 and $4.20. La Tache paid $11.
