Defending champion Behaving Badly, owned by Patti and Hal Earnhardt III and trained by Bob Baffert, will lead five other fillies and mares into Friday's $200,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap (gr. III) for fillies and mares on the main track at 6 1/2 furlongs.A four-time graded stakes winner, the 5-year-old Behaving Badly was an easy winner last year and will be a heavy favorite to repeat. The mare's four graded stakes wins started with the 2005 Rancho Bernardo and include the Santa Monica Handicap (gr. I) at Santa Anita, the Las Flores Handicap (gr. II), also at Santa Anita and the Genuine Risk Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park in her most recent start on July 3.In the Humana Distaff Handicap (gr. I) on Kentucky Derby day this year, the New York-bred daughter of Pioneering was second, beaten a head by stablemate Pussycat Doll.Behaving Badly will carry top weight of 122 and spot her foes from two to 14 pounds, stands out in the field.Among her leading rivals, Proposed, Short Route and Somethinaboutlaura all have won graded stakes, too.Proposed won the Milady Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Hollywood Park June 6, and was most recently finished fourth as the 7-5 favorite in the Vanity Handicap (gr. I) at the Inglewood track July 2. Somethinaboutlaura won Hollywood's seven-furlong A Gleam (gr. II) July 1, while Short Route won the 2005 Railbird (gr. III) over 3-year-old fillies.
