Gold Case to Mesa Vista in New Mexico

Unbeaten multiple stakes winner Gold Case has been acquired by Truman Smith and Jay Taylor from Frank Stronach's Adena Springs for stallion duty at Mesa Vista Stud near Raton, N.M. The 12-year-old son of Forty Niner will stand for the same $5,000 fee that he stood for in 2006 at Adena Springs Kentucky.

Gold Case has sired 32 runners that have won or placed in stakes and has been represented by as many as 15 2-year-old winners one year. His 14 added-money winners include three-time New York grade II winner Randaroo and New York grade III winner Betty's Wish, plus two-time Puerto Rican champion Despreciado.

"We expect him to generate a lot of interest from the Quarter Horse people," Smith said.

Gold Case, who won the Old Hickory Stakes and Sugar Bowl Handicap as a 2-year-old, has sired the earners of $11.7 million, and his $1.6 million in progeny earnings this year places him among the state's leaders. Gold Case is out of the grade II stakes-winning Private Account mare Silent Account.
