A half-brother to grade II stakes-placed Flatter , Congrats is bred similarly to Horse of the Year Mineshaft and successful Claiborne stallion Pulpit, all three being by A.P. Indy out of Mr. Prospector mares.
Grade II winner Congrats has been retired and will begin his stallion career for a fee of $12,500 in 2007 at John Sykes' Cloverleaf Farms II near Reddick, Fla. The 6-year-old son of A.P. Indy out of the Mr. Prospector mare Praise sports wins or placings in nine stakes."I think the breeders will agree this is a fair price for a millionaire son of A.P. Indy; he is the type of horse that Florida has been waiting for," said Brent Fernung, Cloverleaf general manager.Congrats, who has earned $998,960, captured the 2005 San Pasqual Handicap (gr. II) and placed in that year's Santa Anita (gr. I), Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I), San Antonio (gr. II), and Ack Ack Handicaps. He was good enough to be invited to that year's Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) and finished fifth. This year, he ran second in the Memorial Day Handicap (gr. III) at Calder Race Course.
