Moscarelli Win Tops Dominguez's 5-Win Day

Jockey Ramon Dominguez notched his fifth winner on the day aboard E. Allen Murray Jr.'s Celtic Innis in the $100,000 Vincent A. Moscarelli Memorial at Delaware Park Saturday.

Dominguez had eight mounts on the day.

Celtic Innis, a 4-year-old Maryland-bred Yarrow Brae gelding, won by a neck and returned $6.60, $4 and $2.40 as the second choice in the field of seven.

The Maryland-bred trained by Timothy Keefe covered the six furlongs in 1:09.89 over a wet fast main track. City Weekend ($9.60, $6.40), with Jeremy Rose, ran second. It was 2 ¾ lengths further back to pacesetter Southern Missle ($3.60), with B.G. Winnett, Jr., in third. The 8-to-5 favorite, Joey Carson (Stewart Elliott), finished fifth.

Celtic Innis raised his career mark seven wins from 18 starts with earnings of $319,484.

Southern Missile set fractions of :22 1/5 and :45 as Celtic Innis tracked in third along the inside. Celtic Innis eased out in the stretch to catch the leader in the final furlong, holding off a serious challenge from City Weekend late.
