Rainbow Quest, who reached the 100 mark for number of stakes winners earlier this summer, has been designated a chef-de-race stallion by Dr. Steven Roman.
The 25-year-old son of Blushing Groom has stood his entire career at Khalid Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket, England, and has sired such major performers as Quest for Fame, Saumarez, Fiji, Spectrum, Rainbow Dancer, and Raintrap.
Rainbow Quest, who is the 206th chef-de-race, has been categorized a classic/solid chef-de-race. He joins his sire, a brilliant/classic chef-de-race, and his broodmare sire, Herbager, a classic/solid chef-de-race, in the exclusive club.
Chefs-de-race are stallions recognized for their influence on the breed and are categorized by their tendency to pass on a certain type of distance ability, ranging from speed (brilliant) to extreme stamina (professional). In between are intermediate, classic, and solid.
