Field of Seven Entered in Futurity

After a winning debut at Saratoga, Darley Stable's Incriminate hopes to secure his first stakes victory in the $250,000 Futurity Stakes (gr. II) at Belmont Park Sept. 23. The Unbridled's Song colt is trained by Eoin Harty.

Through John Ferguson, Darley purchased Incriminate for $1.5 million at the 2005 Keeneland September sale from Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for ClassicStar. Out of the stakes winning Rollin On Over mare Roll Over Baby, Incriminate is a full brother to stakes winner Value Plus and a half-brother to grade III winner Roll Hennessy Roll (by Hennessy) and stakes winner Majorbigtimesheet (by Carson City).

In order to win, Incriminate will possibly have to take on two contenders from trainer Todd Pletcher's barn. Pletcher will send King of the Roxy and possibly Sam P. Team Valor Stables purchased King of the Roxy privately after his maiden victory. In his first start for his new connections, the Littleexpectations colt finished a close second behind Chace City in the Saratoga Special Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II).

"He ran well for us first time, and if he improves a little bit, he might have a chance," Pletcher said. "He seemed to settle right into our program. He's pretty laid back, so we didn't have any trouble with the transition."

Other contenders in the race include C P West, Kong's Revenge, Fernando Po, and Buffalo Man. Sam P., C P West, Kong's Revenge, and Fernando Po are coming into the Futurity off of victories. In his last start, Fernando Po, by Johannesburg, took the With Anticipation Stakes by a nose Sept. 1. Buffalo Man, a son of El Prado, won his first two starts before finishing third by three-quarters of a length in the Sapling Stakes (gr. III) Sept. 4.

The Futurity is the precursor to the grade I Champagne Stakes scheduled for Oct. 14.
