The Kentucky Lottery and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association have teamed up to send 10 lottery players to the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs. The players are winners of the second-chance drawing held as a promotion for the Kentucky Lottery $2 Breeders' Cup scratch-off ticket.
The VIP packages won by the players will allow them to experience the Breeders' Cup in style. They'll be receiving:
--Accommodations at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville for two nights;
--Transportation to the track on Breeders' Cup Day;
--Tickets to the Breeders' Cup;
--Tickets to the track (with food vouchers) on Friday, November 3rd;
--Access to an expert handicapper on Breeders' Cup Day;
--A $500 betting voucher;
--$500 in spending money;
--A Breeders' Cup press kit, and;
--An invitation to the Breeders' Cup post-race reception.
The grand prize winners are as follows: Kathi Alvey, Cox's Creek; Bill Smith, Alexandria; Lesley Dues, Louisville; Joy Shy, Morehead; Jack Reed, Elizabethtown; Tammy Watkins, Ashland; T.L. Buck Aebersold, Brandenburg; Lee Shaffer, Bowling Green; Jonathon Tindle, Shelbyville; and James Lambert, London.
The second-chance promotion ran July 21-Sept. 15. The grand prize drawing was held Sept. 19. Players submitted their non-winning Breeders' Cup scratch-off tickets to be eligible to win one of 10 prize packages via U.S Mail or through the Kentucky Lottery website. Of 35,841 entries, five winners were chosen from the mail, and the other five from the internet.
Players can present their non-winning Breeders' Cup scratch-off tickets at the Churchill Downs admission gate Nov. 4 to receive $10 off general admission. Only one scratch-off ticket can be used per person per paid general admission ticket. The discount and this promotion are sole responsibility of Churchill Downs and the Breeders' Cup.
