Jockey Joyce Breaks Collarbone at Laurel

(from Laurel Park release)
Jockey Jonathan Joyce, the sixth leading rider at the major Maryland tracks, fractured his right collarbone in a sixth race spill at Laurel Park when Saint Waki broke down at the three-furlong marker.

The 21-year-old rider has 57 wins at Laurel Park and Pimlico this year and topped the standings at the Timonium State Fair meeting.

Joyce picked up the mount after apprentice rider Malcolm Franklin was tossed from his mount in the first race and took off the remainder of his rides for the afternoon.
