Dam of Fourstardave, Fourstars Allstar Euthanized

Broadway Joan, the dam of fan favorites Foustardave and Fourstars Allstar, was euthanized Aug. 17 and buried at Suzi Shoemaker's Lantern Hill Farm near Midway, Ky.

Owned by William Punk Jr. and Philip Dileo, the 27-year-old mare produced her last foal in 2002.

Broadway Joan, an unraced daughter of Bold Arian out of the Wakefield Tower mare Courtneys Doll, was bred to Compliance her first few years at stud, producing Fourstardave in 1985 and his full brother Fourstars Allstar in 1988.

Fourstardave, who made exactly 100 starts and won 21, was the star of Saratoga for years, winning six stakes there but more importantly to his legion of fans, winning a race there for eight straight years. He earned $1,636,737.

His full brother made headlines in a different way, shipping to Ireland in 1991 and winning the Airlie Coolmore Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-I). Also a graded stakes winner at Saratoga (and other tracks), Fourstars Allstar won 14 of 59 races and earned $1,596,760.

Broadway Joan was bred in New York by Joan Petruzzelli.
