Funny Cide headlines the New York Showcase Fall Festival, a two-day fest at Belmont Park designed to celebrate the Empire State with top New York-bred racing and an array of products and services native to the state. It will take place Oct. 21-22.The 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes (both gr. I) winner is slated to compete in the $250,000 Empire Classic. The Oct. 21 race card will feature seven stakes races with combined purses of more than $1 million, devoted solely to New York-bred horses. Both Oct. 21 and 22 will include a mix of foods and attractions located underneath the grandstand, offering fans a chance to sample the best from local and statewide agricultural markets, arts and crafts shops, and other enterprises.
