Frankel, Gann Part Company

Trainer Bobby Frankel said Monday that Edmund Gann, for whom Frankel won stakes with Medaglia d'Oro , Peace Rules, and You, among others, has removed his 14 horses from Frankel's care and given them to John Sadler.

Frankel said the parting was amicable, but would not elaborate further as to why the horses were taken away.

Frankel, with bloodstock agent Mark Reid, purchased Medaglia d'Oro  and You early in their careers. Both became major stakes winners, as did Peace Rules, whom Frankel converted from a grass horse at two to one of the leading 3-year-olds of 2003, as well as a grade I winner at four.

Frankel, who also trained grade I winner Midas Eyes for Gann, first began training for him in 1975, having good success with horses such as Wickerr and Johnny's Image. He said the two have parted ways in the past, but always got back together. However, he said he does not expect that to happen this time. Frankel estimated he also has sold approximately $35 million worth of horses for Gann over the years.
