Barretts Mixed Sale Suffers Setbacks

The Barretts October mixed sale ended its two-day run at California's Fairplex Park Tuesday with downturns in its key business figures.

The number of horses offered fell from 603 last year to 470 this year. The number sold dropped from 440 to 368. The gross revenue declined from $2,529,400 to $2,054,500. The average price slipped from $5,749 to $5,583. And the median fell from $3,000 to $2,850.

Some Came Running, a 7-year-old winning daughter of Phone Trick out of the Kingmambo mare Miss Brazin' Hussy, was the highest-priced horse sold Tuesday, bringing $47,000 from Eric Reed, agent Consigned by Havens Bloodstock Agency, agent, Some Came Running sold in foal to Singletary. She is from the family of grade I winner Sabin.

Some Came Running's price equaled the amount brought by Figurehead, a 3-year-old daughter of Deputy Minister, while topping the auction's first session. Figurehead is in foal to Bertrando.
