'Mig' Begins Hollywood Stint Friday; Arroyo Leaving

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Veteran jockey Richard Migliore made the rounds at Hollywood Park Wednesday morning with agent Ron Anderson after relocating from New York Monday.

Meanwhile, Norberto Arroyo Jr. will return to New York this week after testing the waters of Southern California for five months.

"Just meeting people, it's been exciting," said Migliore after working a couple of horses for trainers Art Sherman and Craig Dollase during an unseasonably warm morning. "It's fun to go to a new place and meet all kinds of people."

Anderson, who also represents national earnings leader Garrett Gomez, said he named Migliore to his first mount of the Hollywood Park meet Friday.

Migliore recalled visiting California for stakes calls on several occasions but still seeks his first victory here. "I finished second in the (1985) Hollywood Turf Cup aboard Win behind Zoffany," said Migliore. "I was also second on Badger Land behind Snow Chief in the (1986) El Camino Real Derby and second in the (1992) Del Mar Derby on Smiling and Dancin."

Arroyo won 24 races in California. He had 11 wins at Del Mar.
