Tapit Colt, Two Punch Colt Top Midlantic Final Session

A colt from the first crop of Wood Memorial (gr. I) winner Tapit  and a weanling colt by Two Punch topped Monday's closing session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December sale.

The Tapit colt was purchased by Wolf Bloodstock for $95,000 to top the final session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December mixed sale. The weanling was consigned by Litz Bloodstock Services, agent. The colt was produced from the Chief's Crown mare Femma's Crown, a daughter of grade III winner Femma.

The Two Punch colt, a Maryland-bred consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Rick Abbott's Charlton, was purchased by Josham Farms Ltd. He was produced from the stakes-winning Alwasmi mare Promiseville.

Fasig-Tipton reported 338 horses were sold during the two-day sale for a gross of $2,678,300, compared with total receipts of $3,497,900 for 375 horses sold during the sale last year. The two-day average price of $7,24 represented a 15% decline from the 2005 average of $9,328. The median price fell 16%, from $3,800 last year to $3,200 this year.

The 171 horses that did not sell represented 34% of the total through the ring, compared with an RNA rate of 32% when 175 horses went unsold.
