TVG Expands Broadcast Hours With New Product

Edited press release

TVG is ushering in 2007 with an expansion of its broadcast schedule and wagering hours and the addition of two new exclusive track partners.

Beginning Jan.  5, TVG will present daily live racing from the United Kingdom and Ireland via its previously announced partnership with the UK’s leading racing network, At The Races. Beginning at 9 a.m. EST, TVG will showcase exclusive live racing from such venerable racecourses as Ascot and Doncaster, as well as the leading all-weather tracks Lingfield, Wolverhampton, Southwell; and from Ireland, the Curragh, Leopardstown, and Punchestown.

In total, TVG will be broadcasting exclusively more than 60% of UK fixtures and broadcasting 100% of Irish fixtures, representing more than 1,000 meets a year, including world-renowned stakes events.

Also Jan. 5, TVG will begin to broadcast daily live racing from Meadowlands, the leading Standardbred meet in the world. TVG won the exclusive television and account wagering rights to Meadowlands and Monmouth Park in a competitive public bidding process that concluded late in 2006.

Meadowlands conducts the premier harness meet in the United States through Aug. 4. During its 137-date winter and summer meets, the track will present a stakes program with purses approaching $18 million, including the $1.5 million Hambletonian and the $1 million Meadowlands Pace.

As part of its agreement with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, TVG will also broadcast exclusive coverage of racing from Monmouth, which will conduct a Thoroughbred meet from May 12-Sept. 2 and will host the 2007 Breeders’ Cup World Championships Oct. 27.
“With our expanded programming and wagering hours and the addition of Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands to our portfolio of exclusive track partners, we’re well positioned to make 2007 a landmark year for TVG,” said David Nathanson, general manager of TVG.
