Aqueduct Anticipates Cold Blast; Cancels Friday Card

Edited press release

Because of the ominous forecast for an Arctic cold front to hit the New York area, the New York Racing Association has decided to cancel live racing at Aqueduct on Friday, Jan. 26. Aqueduct, however, will be open for simulcast and there will be free parking and admission Friday afternoon.

The approaching cold front called for the temperature to drop to 15 degrees by 6 a.m. Friday, when the wind-chill factor would be minus 3 degrees. Milder weather is forecast for Saturday, Jan. 27, at which time Aqueduct will resume live racing with a first-race post of 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
