Turfway Park has canceled live racing for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons because of extremely cold temperatures and expected high winds, the track announced.
The track has added Presidents' Day, Monday, Feb. 19, to its live racing schedule. The track will run 10 races with first post at 1:10 p.m. (ET) Monday.
Turfway changed its post time for Wednesday and Thursday to 1:10 p.m. from 5:30 p.m. EST to avoid the cold, but a front blew through Tuesday evening. The Wednesday forecast called for a high of 21 degrees with a 20 mile-per-hour wind; the morning wind-chill temperature was zero.
The Kentucky track remains open for simulcasting, and live racing is expected to resume Friday at the regular 5:30 p.m. post time.
The weather led to other live-racing cancellations Wednesday, including Aqueduct in New York, Beulah Park in Ohio, Laurel Park in Maryland, and Penn National Race Course in Pennsylvania.
