Mitchell, Aguirre Fined for TCO2 Violations

(from California Horse Racing Board report)
Trainers Mike Mitchell and Paul Aguirre were fined for Class 3 violations by Santa Anita stewards after horses in their care were found to have exceeded the regulatory limit for total carbon dioxide, the California Horse Racing Board reported March 15.

The stewards fined Mitchell $5,000 after Dynout tested over the threshold of 37 milliliters for TCO2. Dynout finished second in the sixth race at Hollywood Park on Nov. 19, 2006. The stewards disqualified Dynout and ordered a redistribution of the purse.

As part of the stipulated agreement, the stewards stayed $2,000 of the fine, provided Mitchell has no additional Class 1, 2, or 3 violations for one year.
In a second stipulated agreement with the CHRB, Paul Aguirre was fined $3,000 after Jasjonjake exceeded the same TCO2 threshold.

Jasjonjake finished seventh in the second race at Santa Anita on Feb. 5, 2006.
