Round Pond Booked to Storm Cat

Richard Porter has decided to send his millionaire mare Round Pond to Storm Cat. Five-year-old Round Pond was retired from racing after suffering a slab fracture of her left front knee during the April 7 Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) at Oaklawn Park.

Round Pond underwent surgery, during which Central Kentucky veterinarian Larry Bramlage inserted a screw to stabilize the area. Round Pond is recuperating at the Taylor family's Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville, Ky.

Round Pond (Awesome Again --Gift of Dance, by Trempolino) won last year's Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) on her way to career earnings of $1,998,700 for Porter's Fox Hill Farms. Porter might sell Round Pond at a Kentucky fall mixed sale.
