Traki Traki, Dam of Grade I Winner Bushfire, Dead

Traki Traki, dam of 2006 grade I winner Bushfire and three other stakes winners, was euthanized April 14 because of complications from a ruptured uterine artery after foaling a Closing Argumentfilly March 29. The birth took place at Xavier and Sharon Moreau's farm near Citra, Fla. The filly is on a nurse mare and is doing fine.

The Moreaus owned 20-year-old Traki Traki with Mandolynn Hill Farm, a Texas farm owned by Dr. Mickey Morgan and his wife, Michelle. Moreau Bloodstock International bought Traki Traki for $35,000 at the 2002 Keeneland November breeding stock sale from Castle Park Farm, agent, when she was carrying Bushfire.

A daughter of Louis Quatorze, Bushfire was voted 2006 Florida champion 3-year-old filly and was an Eclipse Award divisional finalist for Ron and Ricki Rashinski. She captured last year's Acorn (gr. I), Ashland (gr. I), and Mother Goose (gr. I) Stakes, plus the Florida Oaks.

Traki Traki (Mo Power--Ride the Rainbow, by True Colors) produced 10 named foals, six of which were winners, including the stakes-winning full sisters Frosty's Girl and Frosty's On Track (by Frosty the Snowman) and added-money winner Maracaibo (by Skip Trial).

The Moreaus and Morgans own Traki Traki's 12-year-old daughter, Skip a Beat. Skip a Beat did not have an offspring this year and is in foal to Suave.

Sharon Moreau said Traki Traki's newborn filly reminds her of Bushfire. "She's an in-your-face, tough filly," she said.

Traki Traki, who was bred in Florida by Corkern and Miller, won six of 18 races and earned $68,941. She is buried at the Moreaus' farm.
