Grade II Winner Sinister G Dead

Sinister G, who was a 2004 Triple Crown contender, died May 8 of complications from colic after rupturing a bowel. He last raced April 30 at Delaware Park for owner John T. Toscano III and finished fourth.

Sinister G placed himself on the Triple Crown trail with a score in the $500,000 Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) at Turfway Park that March. He raced that afternoon for Toscano and his brother, Robert, and Kim Corrado and Yamile Carlat. Another brother, Paul, rode Sinister G, and the brothers' father, John Toscano Jr., saddled him.

After an unplaced effort in the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I), Sinister G missed the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) because of a cough. He raced just twice more that year, and was a stakes winner at Finger Lakes the following year.

Bred in Florida by Devonia Stud, Sinister G (Matty G--Sinister Punch, by Two Punch) won or placed in 17 of 37 races and earned $599,469.
