Awesome of Course, Smooth Jazz Sire First Winners

Stakes winners Smooth Jazz and Awesome of Course were represented by their first winners. Smooth Jazz's first winner, Louisiana Jazz, won May 11 at Evangeline Downs in her first start. Bred in Louisiana by Adam Jannik, Louisiana Jazz won at 4 1/2 furlongs in :53.22 for owner/trainer Earl Bankston. She is the second winner from the Hamas mare Kamareyah.

Grade II winner Smooth Jazz (Storm Boot--Blushing Issue, by Blushing John) stands for $3,500 at John Sykes' Cloverleaf Farms II near Ocala, Fla.

Awesome of Course came through with his first winner May 12 at Calder Race Course when his son Honey Honey Honey won by four lengths at 4 1/2 furlongs in :53.49 in his first start. A homebred for Fred and Jane Brei's Jacks or Better Farm, Honey Honey Honey is the eighth winner from as many foals of racing age produced from the Honey Jay mare Ej's Honey.
