Dreaming of Anna Returns to Turf in Regret

Dreaming of Anna, last year's champion 2-year-old filly, will try to make it two straight on grass as she heads Saturday's Regret Stakes (gr. IIIT) at 1 1/8 miles at Churchill Downs. The $200,000 Regret, named for the first Kentucky Derby-winning filly, drew a field of 11 sophomore fillies, with Swingit, carrying top weight of 122 pounds.

Dreaming of Anna, a speedy daughter of Rahy, won the June 2 Double Delta Stakes on the grass at Arlington Park in her most recent start. That victory snapped a three-race losing streak that included a sixth-place finish behind Rags to Riches in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill. A two-time, front-running stakes winner on turf last year, Dreaming of Anna breezed five furlongs in 1:01.20 Monday over the Polytrack surface at Arlington Park for trainer Wayne Catalano.

Dashes N Dots figures to give Dreaming of Anna a run for the early lead. Trained by Greg Fox, the daughter of Aptitude led all the way in a 1 1/16-mile turf allowance May 20 in her Churchill debut.

The first three finishers from the May 4 Edgewood Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Churchill are back for the Regret and figure to make it interesting by virtue of their photo finish efforts in the Edgewood. Swingit, a daughter of Victory Galloptrained by Hal Wiggins, finished a head in front of Luna Dorada, who was a head in front of Good Mood. The Edgewood was the first grass try for Luna Dorada, a daughter of Seeking the Gold who is trained by Niall O'Callaghan. Good Mood, an Irish-bred daughter of Danehill Dancer, is conditioned by Patrick Biancone.

You Go West Girl, by Mister Greeley, boasts wins in her last two starts, including one on turf at Churchill May 19. She is trained by Tom Proctor.
