Jockey Calvin Borel and trainer Carl Nafzger, who teamed to win the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) with champion Street Sense, will participate in a charity autograph session benefiting the Permanently Disabled Jockeys’ Fund at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

The session will take place in the Paddock Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT. A $5 donation is required and will include a Kentucky Derby 133 program or a Street Sense poster. Fans are welcome to bring in alternate items for signing, such as hats, shirts or books, but only one autograph will be allowed per person.

Later in the afternoon, “Team Street Sense” will reassemble in the Churchill Downs winner’s circle to accept trophies and rings honoring their victory in the 2007 Kentucky Derby. Following the running of the $300,000 Fleur de Lis Handicap (gr. II), the ninth race on the 11-race Foster card, the connections of Street Sense – Borel, Nafzger, and owner/breeder James Tafel – will receive their engraved Kentucky Derby trophies, as well as their Kentucky Derby winner’s rings.

This year marks the second year that rings have been presented to members of the Kentucky Derby-winning team.  The collegiate-style rings are made of white and yellow gold with a black onyx stone, inset with a horseshoe fashioned from 15 two-point diamonds and a replica of the Kentucky Derby winners’ trophy.
