A colt from the first crop of Sky Mesa worked an eighth of a mile in :10 seconds Monday as the fastest time during the training preview for the 2007 Barretts Summer Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The workouts were held at the Fairplex Park racetrack.
The colt, consigned by Greg Vartanian Bloodstock as Hip 146, is out of the stakes-placed Gone West mare Better as a Memory.
The fastest quarter-mile work was recorded by Hip 154, a filly by Muqtarib named Genuine Magic from the consignment of Clear Creek Farm as agent, who finished her work in :21 4/5 seconds.
The fastest three-eighths mile work was accomplished by Hip 140, a California-bred daughter of freshman sire Aldebaran from the consignment of B.C.3. Thoroughbreds as agent, who stopped the timer in :34 2/5 seconds.
The sale at the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park begins at 1 p.m. (PT) Tuesday, June 26.
