Quest for Fame's Dam, Aryenne, Dead

Aryenne, a European classic winner/producer, died in England July 9, two days after the death of Juddmonte Farms' stallion Rainbow Quest in England. It was the mating of Rainbow Quest to Aryenne that produced 1990 Ever Ready Epsom Derby (Eng-I) winner Quest for Fame for Juddmonte.

Bred in France by Paul Chedeville, Aryenne scored major wins in the mile classic Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Fr-I) in 1980 and the Criterium des Pouliches (Fr-I) in 1979. Campaigned by D.G. Volkert, she retired with five wins from 10 races and earnings of $283,098.

Juddmonte, owned by Khalid Abdullah, also was rewarded with multiple stakes winner Yenda out of Aryenne. A daughter of Dancing Brave, Yenda was a grade II winner in New York and a stakes winner in France. As a broodmare, Yenda produced English group winner Notable Guest (by Kingmambo) for Juddmonte.

Another daughter of Aryenne, Aryadne, also developed into a stakes producer. Aryadne (by Rainbow Quest) is the dam of 2007 English stakes winner Maze (by Dr Fong).

Aryenne, who was 30 at the time of her death, was by Green Dancer out of the Cambremont mare Americaine.
