Alke, Congrats to Remain in Florida at Journeyman

(Edited press release)

Brent and Crystal Fernung announced that Congrats and Alke have been added to the 2008 stallion roster at the new Journeyman Stud near Belleview, Fla.

“I wanted to leave the horses in the state to support the Florida market,” John Sykes of Cloverleaf Farms said. “It was only natural to leave them here with Brent and Ken (Breitenbecker) because they’ve done a great job with them already.” Fernung previously served as general manager of Cloverleaf Farms, while Breitenbecker was Cloverleaf’s Stallion Manager. Cloverleaf will retain ownership of both horses.

Cloverleaf is relocating to Kentucky.

“We’re excited to have Congrats and Alke join us,” Fernung said. “These horses have been a big part of our promotional efforts at Cloverleaf. They represent the combination of pedigree, looks and ability that I strive for in a stallion. We really appreciate Mr. Sykes giving us this opportunity.”

Congrats, a grade II-winning millionaire son of AP Indybred 173 mares in 2007, while Alke is a grade II winning son of Grand Slamand is Florida’s leading freshman sire by yearling average so far in 2007.

Journeyman Stud is a division of Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Bloodstock Services, Inc. doing business at the old Sez Who farm, now called Lucky Warrior Farm.
