The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Aug. 16 that Peggy Hendershot has been promoted to senior vice president of legislative affairs. She previously served as vice president of legislative and corporate planning.
Hendershot also serves as president and treasurer of Horse PAC, the NTRA’s federal political action committee. Since its activation in 2002, Horse PAC has become the largest federal gaming PAC. In early 2007, total contributions to Horse PAC topped the $1.5-million mark.
“Peggy has done an outstanding job building our industry’s presence in Washington, D.C.,” Alex Waldrop, president and chief executive officer of the NTRA, said in a release. “Of particular importance is her work with the Horse PAC, which realized record disbursements in 2006 and was instrumental in securing passage last year of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act with specific protections for account and Internet wagering on pari-mutuel horse racing.”
