Flashy Bull, winner of this year’s Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I), will enter stud in 2008 for a fee of $10,000 at Brereton and Elizabeth Jones’ Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky.
Racing his entire career for West Point Stable, Flashy Bull put together a four-race win streak this year that culminated with his victory in the 1 1/8-mile Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs. He also won the William Donald Schaefer Handicap (gr. III) during that time. He retired with five wins from 19 races and earnings of $844,313.
Bret Jones of Airdrie said Flashy Bull reminds him of another young Airdrie stallion. “I think you can draw a lot of similarities to Include , in that both are absolute physical standouts and both are total outcrosses for all the Mr. Prospector line mares," he said about the 4-year-old son of Holy Bull. "Flashy Bull was far more precocious than Include, both really took off as they matured and stretched out and I think both will be at their best siring horses that can go after the big money around two turns.”
Bred in Kentucky by Jerry and Liz Squyres, Flashy Bull was bought by Buzz Chace, agent for West Point, for $205,000 at the 2005 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s February sale of 2-year-olds in training.
Flashy Bull is out of the multiple stakes producing Mt. Livermore mare Iridescence and hails from the same female family as champion grass horse and young Kentucky stallion Perfect Soul.
