A half-brother to Sept. 3 Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) winner Majestic Warrior is among the horses withdrawn from the Keeneland September yearling sale that begins Sept. 10 and continues through Sept. 25.
Like Majestic Warrior, the scratched yearling was bred in Kentucky by George Steinbrenner’s Kinsman Stud. A son of El Prado, the yearling, already named Evolutionist, was consigned by Lane’s End, agent. Produced from the multiple grade I-winning millionaire, Dream Supreme (by Seeking the Gold), the yearling is also a half-brother to stakes winner Crystal Current and to A. P. Dream, a filly who was bought back by Kinsman for $2,395,000 at the 2006 Keeneland April 2-year-olds in training sale. Majestic Warrior, Crystal Current, and A.P. Dream were sired by A.P. Indy.
Jim Scott, Kinsman Stud farm manager, said the Steinbrenner family decided to keep the yearling after seeing the Hopeful win. “I wanted to sell because I thought he would never be worth more than he is now,” Scott said. “But we had a meeting and I was outvoted.”
Scott said the colt would eventually be trained by Bill Mott, who also conditions Majestic Warrior.
