High Rock Rolls to Victory in Prix de Conde

High Rock rolled to an impressive win Oct. 21 in the Prix de Conde (Fr-III) at Longchamp.

Jockey Christophe Lemaire and trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, who teamed up Oct. 20 to capture the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (Eng-I) on Literato, continued their winning ways the next day, when High Rock rolled to an impressive win in the Prix de Conde (Fr-III) at Longchamp.

Corconte broke sharply and went to the lead immediately after the break. Lemaire was content to track the colt from second, as High Rock settled comfortably for him. With just more than a furlong left, Lemaire began to go to work on High Rock, and the chestnut responded willingly, taking command with less than a sixteenth of a mile to go.

Both Hannouma and Sanjida made late moves from mid-pack but were no match for the winner, who won easily by a length. Hannouma got up for second, a half-length in front of Sanjida.

Time for the nine furlongs was 1:51.6.

High Rock is a 2-year-old colt by Rock of Gibraltar out of Hint of Silver, by Alysheba. He is a half-brother to fellow stakes winners Homeland and Hideaway.

His fourth dam is the blue hen Silver Fog, who produced such stakes winners as Silver Spoon, Silver True, The Searcher, and Silver Bright. Silver Fog was also the granddam of stakes winners Inca Queen and Silver Buck. Additional grade I winners State Dinner and Banquet Table also hail from this rich female family.
