Gainesway Farm has announced the 2008 stud fee for prominent sire Mr. Greeleywill be $125,000, up from $75,000 in 2007.
“Mr. Greeley is now one of the 10 top sires in the world," said Gainesway president Antony Beck. "His success in Europe, with dual classic winner and champion Finsceal Beo, has helped move him to the highest level of racing and commercial success.
“This year Mr. Greeley has had 20 individual yearlings sell for $300,000 or more, including the $2.2 million sale-topping colt at Saratoga."
One of the year's leading sires of juveniles, Mr. Greeley also is the sire of 2-year-old dual Irish group I winner Saoirse Abu.
Mr. Greeley's son , first-crop stallion Whywhywhy, who stands at Gainesway, sired Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Nownownow, and Mr. Greeley himself was represented by the runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, Miraculous Miss.
Fifteen-year-old Mr. Greeley is by Gone West out of the Reviewer mare Long Legend.
