Stallion Video: After Market

After Market, by Alan Porter

2003 by Storm Cat-Tranquility Lake, by Rahy

Multiple grade I winner After Market is by Storm Cat out of the multiple grade I-winning Rahy mare, Tranquility Lake, and so bred on an identical cross to Storm Cat’s leading stallion son, Giant’s Causeway.

Giant’s Causeway has a particularly strong affinity for the Mr. Prospector line, particularly with branches including Kingmambo, Miswaki, Seeking the Gold, Gone West, Forty Niner, Fappiano and Machiavellian. Mr. Prospector is a son of Raise a Native, with whom Storm Cat line stallions have also crossed well, especially with mares descending through Exclusive Native (and his son Affirmed) and Alydar.

The Storm Cat line has crossed very well with mares descending from Damascus, including through Private Account, Time For A Change, Ogygian, Timeless Moment and Eastern Echo. Storm Cat and his sons have also generally done well with mares descending from Seattle Slew and from Ribot, through Graustark, His Majesty and Tom Rolfe/Hoist the Flag. It would also be interesting to try After Market with mares carrying either Saint Ballado or Devil’s Bag, both brothers to Glorious Song, the dam of After Market’s broodmare sire, Rahy. — by Alan Porter
