The first runner to demonstrate that the progeny of Giant's Causeway  could show significant form on dirt as well as turf, Noble Causeway had his best performance in running second to High Fly in the 2005 Florida Derby (gr. I). He is from the cross of Giant’s Causeway over Mr. Prospector, which has had its most notable successes with European champion juvenile Shamardal, Italian highweight Primary, and grade/group I winners Aragorn, My Typhoon, and Maids Causeway.

Danzig looks to have good potential with horses from the Giant’s Causeway/Mr. Prospector cross, and Danzig’s son Boundary may be particularly interesting with Noble Causeway as he hails from the same female family. Dixieland Band also looks as though he may make a good cross with Noble Causeway.

Reviewer, who is from the same female family as Seeking the Gold, has combined with Giant’s Causeway in three graded stakes winners, including grade I winner First Samurai, appearing through daughters in all three instances. Duplicating Secretariat through General Assembly (his best sire son), Pancho Villa (a full brother to Terlingua, dam of Storm Cat), or another of his good daughters may also be a workable strategy.

Seattle Slew is a fairly obvious target, but he seems to work better with the elements of Noble Causeway’s pedigree when seen through his daughters or through Slew o’ Gold. Another possibility for getting Seattle Slew into the mix may be Capote, who has a lot of speed on the dam’s side of his pedigree and who is the broodmare sire of Giant Moon, recent winner of the Count Fleet Stakes.

Halo can seldom be ignored when the Northern Dancer line is in play, and Roberto and Sir Ivor may also be workable. For those wishing to try inbreeding to Mr. Prospector, Crafty Prospector has had graded stakes winners in combination with both Giant’s Causeway and Seeking the Gold. Blushing Groom may be a possibility.
