Stallion Video: Corinthian

Corinthian, by Alan Porter

2003 Pulpit–Multiply, by Easy Goer

By A.P. Indy’s most successful stallion son, Corinthian is half-brother to the grade two winning Desert Hero. His third dam, Number, is three-parts-sister to Nureyev and Sadler’s Wells.

Pulpit is out of a mare by Mr. Prospector, and Corinthian’s dam is by a son of Alydar, a genetic relative to Mr. Prospector who works very well with that strain.  This suggests breeding back mares by Mr. Prospector line stallions, with Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser being particularly good (Wavering Monarch, another Raise a Native/Buckpasser cross also appeals). Numerous and Chequer are Mr. Prospector half-brothers to Corinthian’s second dam. Geiger Counter is a Mr. Prospector half-brother to the fourth dam of Corinthian. Mares from the Northern Dancer line ought to work well here, with descendents of Sadler’s Wells (particularly via El Prado, who is already the broodmare sire of a graded winner by a son of A.P. Indy), Fairy King and Nureyev having obvious appeal.

Other Northern Dancer line horses which should go well here include Storm Bird through Storm Cat (particularly Stormy Atlantic  and Storm Boot, who are from this family) and Summer Squall (a half-brother to Corinthian’s grandsire, A.P. Indy, and already broodmare sire of A.P. Indy line Champion Stevie Wonderboy); Danzig; Deputy Minister; and Topsider (another from the same female line as Corinthian).
