Stallion Video: Flashy Bull

Flashy Bull, by Alan Porter

2003 Holy Bull–Iridescence, by Mt. Livermore

A grade one winning son of Holy Bull, out of a Blushing Groom line mare, Flashy Bull is bred on a very similar cross to Holy Bull’s Champion, Macho Uno , himself sire of grade one winner Wicked Style (dam by Trempolino) with his first crop of two-year-olds.

Flashy Bull is half-brother to stakes winner, Pink Viper, by Mr. Prospector line stallion, Smoke Glacken, but in general, Holy Bull/Mr. Prospector has been disappointing. The exceptions most notably including those out of mares by Distinctive Pro and Crafty Prospector, who both bring in Rough’n Tumble, who should be good here. If the Mr. Prospector line is tried, it would be best accompanied by In Reality or Dr. Fager (who might be positive here in general), the Mt. Livermore strain in the pedigree giving Fappiano a shot.

Mr.. Prospector’s relative, Alydar, is broodmare sire of good Holy Bull graded stakes winner, Pohave. Northern Dancer in general looks to have prospects and strains which have succeeded with Holy Bull including Storm Bird/Storm Cat, Nijinsky II (particularly Green Dancer), Nureyev, Danzig and Be My Guest. The Deputy Minister line could work here too. Bold Ruler seems beneficial, particularly through Seattle Slew. The Turn-to/Hail to Reason line has scored via Stop the Music (broodmare sire of Holy Bull’s Kentucky Derby winner, Giacomo) and Halo (Devil's Bag and Saint Ballado, would be particularly good).

Holy Bull’s grade one winning sprinter, Bishop Court Hill is out of a mare by Cormorant. It could also be worth breeding Flashy Bull to mares from his own Blushing Groom line, particularly through Rahy.
